I'v never used a medium format film camera but when it comes to medium format rangefinders something I'v seen recommended for street shooting in the past is the Bronica RF 645. I welcome all thoughts and feedback about your experiences and suggestions. However I am somewhat nervous about the rangefinder system for portraiture and general usability.īut I would like to know how the rest of you decided on your medium format cameras and if you have any advice? Hasselblad is too expensive for me, but I feel I have not got a great deal of info of Pentax medium format cameras for example, or more niche brands models like the Voigtlander. I have netted out at a Mamiya 7 for it's compact size (being a rangefinder), image quality, 6X7 format and ergonomics among a few other things. I've assessed a lot of brands, from old soviet models right through to Mamiya.
I've been searching and searching, and like all things in life, compromises need to be made. This is not to replace my 5D, but there are particular instances where I would like to use it - primarily portraiture and street photography. After using my trusted Canon 5D MK III for many years, I have decided to buy a medium format film camera.
